SmartThinQ Hub is LG's Smart Home Ecosystem Device for Homes

Finally, LG has something very likely to the Amazon Echo, though isn’t a digital assist that would be a digital companion when you feel alone. The newest addition to its loT ecosystem is the SmartThinQ Hub.

The device serves as a gateway to smart sensors and connected appliances in the home but is more than that, with the ability to display reminders from personal calendars and stream music from its built-in speaker.

There’s a 3.5-inch display as well and connects to a smartphone app to monitor and control home appliances and smart sensors.

The SmartThinQ Hub is compatible with numerous devices including devices from other manufacturers. It helps to monitor and control home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, ovens, robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioners and a variety of sensors. The conventional devices can be connected to the hub via Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Bluetooth.

“The LG SmartThinQ Hub is just another example of the open approach we believe is the future of the smart home,” said Jo Seong-jin, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Openness and strong partnerships with industry leaders are what will make smart home technology more accessible and more convenient to consumers. And at the end of the day, that is what our smart home strategy is all about.”
