HTC announced the consumer edition of the Vive VR headset at this year’s MWC conference. The headset has been co-developed with Valve that carries the design feature of Vive Pre, which was showcased at CES. The HTC Vive VR consumer edition will retail at $799 and pre-orders for the headset will begin on February 29. The headset will be shipped in early April.

The Vive will initially launch in 24 countries: the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Sweden, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

HTC Vive VRThe HTC Vive is $200 more than the Oculus Rift headset, which was revealed last month at a price tag of $599. The Rift would start shipping in March.

The Vive VR headset features an OLED screen, a front facing camera, two wireless controllers with haptic feedback, room scale movement sensors, an integrated microphone, and Bluetooth connectivity.

HTC Vive VRThe headset also features new Phone services that allow users to keep in touch with the real world without getting lost in the virtual reality. It will be shipped with two full-featured titles – Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives by Owlchemy Labs, and Fantastic Corporation by Northway Games.
