You just got a brand new Samsung Gear Fit 2, a lovely gift from your dad, mom or loved ones. Unboxed it, charged it up, and what’s next? It is pretty smart wearable, of course. With a few tweaks, you can easily configure it with your Android phone.
But remember, the setup process may be different for a Samsung Galaxy device or an Android device from other makers. The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is compatible with all Android devices running Android 4.4 and above.
Setup on any Android device
Launch Google Play Store app from your phone and install the Samsung Gear app. After installing the app, follow the on-screen prompts to accept and pair the Fit 2 to your phone via Bluetooth.
During the process, the Gear app will ask you to install another three apps additionally – S Health, Samsung Accessory Service, and Gear Fit 2 Plugin. You may even install these apps ahead of time to speed up the setup process, sometimes it would be a bit annoying too. The wearable needs all these apps for proper functioning with your phone.
Setup on a Galaxy Smartphone
The process here is straighter forward than an Android phone. Firstly, open the Galaxy Apps app on your phone and install the Samsung Gear app if it isn’t already installed. If it is already there, update it.
With the app installed, launch it and follow the prompts in order to install additional apps. Instead of installing them manually, your phone will install them on its own.
Once you’re done with the installation of apps, you’ll need to go through the list of installed apps on your phone and check the box next to each one you want the Gear app to push alerts to your wrist. Now, your phone and Gear Fit 2 have been paired and ready. What you’re waiting for? Start Exercising and see your results.
