Do you ever know? Digital photos have more information than you’d think. Yes, the digital photos not only convey your mood, but also contain metadata embedded in each file. The file will have data pertaining to your camera’s make and model, the time and date the photo was shot, and even GPS coordinates. When you share your photos online, you’re letting others know some information about you passively.

And the good news is that Microsoft lets you remove your personal information from the photos through Windows 10 in a few simple steps.

Step 1: Open the folder that has your photos you want to delete metadata from them. Choose a specific photo or you can also select multiple photos, right-click them, and then click properties.

In the properties window click on Details tab

Step 2: In the properties window, click on Details tab to the photo(s) metadata. You’ll see ‘Remove Properties and Personal Information’ at the bottom of the windows, click it.

Step 3: Now, select the radio button that reads Remove the following properties from this file and select the metadata value you want to remove. Then, click OK to delete the data.

Step 4: If you wish to have a copy of the file with metadata, select the first option – Create a copy with all possible properties removed and click OK. This will save a copy of the file with removed metadata and will retain the original file with metadata.
