Apple is best known for its 4-inch phone until 2014, when then introduced two sizes – 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The regular iPhone come in 4.7-inch screen and the plus variant with 5.5-inch screen, and now, it seems the Cupertino-based company plans to offer another screen option to its customers sometime in 2017 or 2018. Apple is working on a 5.8-inch iPhone with OLED display and the launch is set for 2017 or 2018, according to sources.

Digitimes cites that Apple will launch an iPhone with a 5.8-inch Oled display in “either 2018 or earlier in 2017.” Also, the report claims that Apple will team up with Samsung for the supply of the display. Some reports suggest that the company had earlier in talks with Samsung, Japan Display and LG yet, but LG and Japan Display should be joining later.

Apple will pull over the LCD technology on iPhone in favor of OLED. The Oled display offers brighter output, deeper black level while taking less real estate – thinner than the LCD panel currently utilised on iPhone models. Additionally, the display will also be more power efficient.

Apple is now busy with its supposedly March 22st event that will be launching its new 4-inch iPhone dubbed iPhone SE, a 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and new Apple Watch bands.
