Vijay TV launches Bigg Boss Tamil with Kamal Haasan as host; Premieres on June 25th

Star Vijay, better known as Vijay TV, has launched the Tamil version of India’s popular reality television show ‘Bigg Boss’, to be hosted by actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan. This is Kamal’s first foray into television, who frequently make headlines for his bold comments on social issues, especially politics. Vijay TV ha s made a better choice in choosing him as the host, whom can be better than him – a well qualified actor, filmmaker, philanthropist, social activist and of course, a dignified person.

When asked why he chose Bigg Boss Tamil, Haasan said, “When Vijay TV approached me to play host, I funnily quipped, who better than me right. All my life I have been under constant watch and I have been judged on whatever I have done, public or private. But now roles are reversed as I would stand with the audiences and watch these celebrities in the house survive this ordeal.”

The Bigg Boss, which has had seen 10 successful seasons in Hindi with Salman Khan as host, is an adaptation of international format of Big Brother, created by Endemol (Netherlands). The reality show has also been successful in Kannada and Bengali. And, now it is being introduced for Tamil audience.

The reality show has its own set of rules to play. The show will have 14 contestants (celebrities) called as housemates live in a lavish house with all the amenities but entirely cut off the grid for 100 days. They won’t have access to phones, television, internet, newspapers, or whatever it may be, completely abandoned from the outside world. Based on nominations and public votes, two homemates will be evicted each week and the one who remains till the end is the winner of the show. Bigg Boss will oversee the housemates and instruct them by voice.

Vijay TV has erected a posh house at the cost of Rs. 1 crore at EVP theme park. The television said that they have finalized the contestants yet and in talks with celebrities to go onboard the show. During the press meet, Kamal Haasan shared a lot ranging from Rajinkanth’s political entry to his upcoming movie Vishwaroopam 2.

Bigg Boss will air on Vijay TV from June 25th from 9 pm on weekdays and 8:30 pm on weekends.
