Soundarya Rajinikanth Files Divorce Plea in Family Court

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Daughter Soundarya has filed divorce plea in a Family Court in Chennai today. Soundarya Rajinikanth was married to an Industrialist Ashwin Kumar in 2010 and they made this decision after having a difference of opinion for couple of years now.

The couple bears a one-year-old son, Vid and Soundarya and Ashwin decided to get divorced with consent of both families. In fact, they have been living separated for more than a year. Earlier in September, she said in a tweet, “News about my marriage is true. We have been separated for over a year & divorce talks are on. I request all to respect my family’s privacy.”

The couple has filed a mutual consent divorce petition in a family court in Chennai. Director and graphic designer by profession, Soundary has worked in several films, including Baba, Sandakozhi and Sivaji among others. She made her directorial debut in Kochadaiyaan, which was India’s first motion capture 3D Tamil film. She had even produced Venkat Prabhu’s 2010 Goa film.

Earlier, Soundarya spoke about father Rajinikanth. “He is a very simple human being. He never forgot where he came from. As his children, my sister Aishwarya and I learnt this from him — to never forget our roots. With our dad, there are no two faces. What you see is what he is. Whether it’s a fan or a producer, he treats them all the same. He has been down to earth all his life. He will never change. We, as his children, try to emulate that trait of our dad.”

At the latest, she will be directing her brother-in-law Dhanush’s VIP 2 (Velai Illa Pattathari 2), which is a sequel to the 2010 super hit film of the same name.
