Nayanthara to replace Shruti Haasan in Sangamithra

Shruti Haasan was originally slated to play the the titular role in Sundar C’s magnum opus Sangamithra aka Sangamitra. But, she walked out of the project claiming that she didn’t received bounded script and date request. The makers of the film, Sri Thenandal Film, were in search for a reasonable actress to replace here.

It is mom other than our Lady Superstar Nayanthara who will play the lead role (Sangamitra) in the film. Nobody could forget her performance in Kaashmora, where she played the queen character. It is said that Sundar C has allegedly narrated the script to her and she was pretty much impressed with the story. She is almost a part of the project now, and an official statement from the team will confirm it soon.

Sangamithra is a fictional historical epic flick which will be directed by Sundar C and produced by Sri Thenandal Films. This is Sundar C’s high profile flick to be made with a whopping budget of Rs 250 crores. The film has Jayam Ravi and Arya in prominent roles with A R Rahman composing music for the film.

Nayanthara last outing Dora was a box office disaster but she received positive acclaim for her performance in the film. She will be next seen in Ajay Gnanamuthu’s thriller film ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ where she plays the role of a CBI officer investigating a mysterious death (Vijay Sethupathi). Atharvaa and Raashi Khanna are additionally part of the lead star cast.
