Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru Movie Review
Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru Story & Plot
Only some debutant directors would grab our attention with promising story and execution and showcase technologies within a small budget. We have seen few movies in 2016 that raised hopes on their upcoming project and director Karthick Naren will be one of them. Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru is a typical crime mystery, thoughthe story is somewhat we have been used to, if you are a fan of investigative genre films, but the thing here is the how he presented the film. He steals the show with fascinating array of scenes that makes us to travel along with the movie.
Deepak (Rahman) is a retired and a handicapped cop who takes us six years back in his life where he talks about an unsolved murder mystery case to a young guy who wants to become an IPS officer. On his regular routine day, Deepak has been given a suicide case, which later turns out to be a murder. In his investigation he finds it’s a homicide, and before getting deep into the case, he receives another phone call saying a young girl missing from an apartment with visible blood traces on the floor. During investigation, he finds a strange connection between these cases and traces the criminal too. But, he would able to nail the murderer. Why he was not able to arrest him? Watch the film in theatres to know.
The highlights of the movie are the cinematography and sound which tells the story when there is no dialogues or expressions. As it is a crime mystery thriller, the complexity of the story is inevitable. If you are not fan of crime thriller or not used to it, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru would be somewhat confusing to follow with jigsaw puzzle way of narrating the story. Well, of course that makes the film very interesting and engaging. Though, director says the film should be watched for the second time to get things cleared, you cannot expect audiences to do that.
As much the movie is gripping, there are a few flaws in it as well. But considering the whole project with details, those may go invisible in the lights of the director’s vision of telling the story. Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru has lots of surprises and twists and it’s worth a watch.
