After Jessica Jones Season 2 was confirmed last year, we didn’t hear much about the series all this time, and now we have some fascinating news for Jessica Jones fans. Marvel and Netflix have confirmed the production of Season 2 of Jessica Jones, which will be coming to Netflix after The Defenders next year. The first season by Melissa Rosenberg premiered in 2015 received huge acclamation among audience for its noir tone, approach to sexuality, and depiction of darker topics such as rape, assault and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

“We’ve had such an incredible response to our first season on which I’ve been so fortunate to have an extraordinary team all the way down the line from the fellow writers, executive producers, cast and crew,” said Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg (via Deadline). “I’m thrilled to have someone as talented as Raelle join our team as writer and executive producer as we delve into Jessica’s continued story.”

Jessica Jones Season 2 Story

We haven’t have enough information of what will be cooking in the second season, however, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg revealed of what to expect from Jessica Jones Season 2. In an interview, he told,

“I think one of the things I would be able to do now, that’s harder to do in the first season, is to really expand on the ensemble…I would hope to further expand on the ensemble, and on Jessica’s world. She ends in a very different place than she started off. She’s still going to be Jessica Jones — that is not going to change. She will continue to drink and make mistakes, and accidentally drop people onto train tracks, but something has changed for her by the end of this season, and I’d just love to explore that in the second season.”

Jessica Jones Season 2 Release Date

The new season will be not coming to the small screen until The Defenders arrive at the end of this year. The latter is currently wrapping up its production and yet Marvel’s Daredevil isn’t going to make this year. As the Jessica Jones Season 2 already kick-started its production in NYC, we can expect the season to air on Netflix in spring 2018. The additional seasons of Daredevil and Iron Fist are arriving in early spring.
