Bollywood Actress Sonam Kapoor while speaking at film critic Rajeev Masand’s The Actresses Roundtable show on CNN NEWS18, said she was molested at the young age of 13 when she was at the movies with her friends and it was traumatizing.
At the show the actress was joined by Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan and Radhika Apte. Each shared their experience working in movies and their roles and their personal views. The thing that made the headline in the show was sexual harassment.
They talked about sexual harassment women were facing everyday and how they were being molested at various instances. When speaking about the topic, Sonam Kapoor shocked everyone saying about being groped by a man at her young age.
“I was going to watch a Raveena Tandon-Akshay Kumar film to Gaeity theatre. I was with my girl friends; we were 14. We had gone outside to get samosas and I was last while coming back, being the tallest.”
“And a man came from behind and held my breasts. And obviously, I didn’t have breasts at that time. I started shaking and shivering, not knowing what was going on. I was crying but I sat and finished the film. I just felt I had done something wrong. I didn’t talk about it for a good two years. I know a lot many people who’ve gone through stuff like these,” Sonam Kapoor said.
