SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion has smashed out all the previous box office records of Indian cinemas, and arguably, it got a record debut in the Indian box office as well as in the International arena. The film made a record breaking Rs. 122 crore net at the domestic market, becoming the first Indian movie to make such immersive collections.
Apart from Indian box office records, we hear it’s the biggest opening in the North America (United States and Canada) ever with $10.1 million ending third at last weekend’s US box office after Universal’s The Fate of the Furious ($19M) and Pantelion/Lionsgate’s How to Be a Latin Lover ($12M). It was released only in 405 sites while the latter two films released in over 1000 locations. Baahubali 2 has out-grossed Tom Hanks-Emma Watson thriller The Circle ($9.3M) and becoming the third highest debut for any international title in the United States after Hero ($18M) and Jet Li’s Fearless ($10.6M).
Baahubali 2 has now emerged as the first Indian movie with highest debut in the States beating 2013’s Dhoom 3 ($8M). Not only in the States the movie is making records at foreign soils shattering all previous records made by any Indian movies yet. At the end of third day, the movie has minted around Rs. 500 crore worldwide, emerging as the highest opening for any Indian movie till date. Going by the present trends, the movie is expected to gross Rs. 1000 crore worldwide at ease.
