Ford Mustang GT goes official in India at Rs 65 lakh

Ford has finally taken the wraps off the iconic sports coupe, Ford Mustang GT in India at a starting price of Rs. 65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The county sees the sixth generation Mustang GT that took around five decades for the American carmaker to bring the iconic machine in the Indian shores. It comes with a massive price tag, as the car will be imported to India via CBU route.

The Ford Mustang was originally unveiled in 1964 in the US owing to the fact that the car took 52 years for it to land in the country. The car will be offered in our country in six flavors – black, silver, white, yellow, magnetic red and the signature race red.

The Indian-spec Mustang GT retains the traditional muscle styling cues from the American design language right from the aggressive front to the muscular character lines. The fascia of the car gets a wide trapezoidal grille with large air dam together making a hexagonal shape along with a pair of sharp projector automatic headlamps with daytime running LED lights. Besides the air intakes, the car gets round fog lamps on either side.

Ford Mustang The side profile of the car that shows the aggressive stance of the car with the long hood, sloping coupe-like roofline, 19-inch Magnetic Gloss paint machined aluminum wheels and a protruding tail section. The rear end, on the other hand, comes with three-dimensional tri-bar LED tail lamps and the GT badge at the center all on a glossy black surface.

Ford Mustang The new Mustang GT comes with a classy all-black interior with six-way power adjustable seats that are heated as well as cooled while the dual-zone climate control offers individual cooling. This popular sports coupe offers features like – 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford SYNK2 with voice control, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, rear diffuser, rain-sensing wipers, and dual front airbags with additional curtain, side impact, and knee airbags among other features.

Indian spec Ford MustangThe Indian-spec Mustang GT is offered with the top of the line 5.0-litre V8 petrol mill. The car has been tweaked slightly to lower its power output adapting to the Indian roads that churn out 395bhp of power and 515Nm of torque while the global version delivers 435bhp and 524Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels by a six-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters. Ford offers the new Mustang GT with four different driving modes – Norman, Sport+, Track, and Snow/Wet modes.

The bookings for the iconic coupe have been opened up in Delhi and Mumbai and that will extend across the country in a phased manner.
