Kamal Haasan about Mersal controversy: Don’t silence critics. India will shine when it speaks

Thalapathy Vijay’s Diwali release ‘Mersal’ has stuck into unnecessary issues before and after its release, where the national party BJP demanding the production to remove some of the scenes pertaining to GST and Digital India (Demonetization). The film controversy is certainly the talk of the town since yesterday and many celebrities and fans have backed the film urging the Mersal team to not delete those scenes.

Kamal Haasan, who is infamous for his political statements, took to twitter to lent his support to the film. “Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it. Counter criticism with logical response. Don’t silence critics. India will shine when it speaks,” he wrote.

Regarding the controversy, there are a few dialogues in the film criticising government’s policies of GST, Demonetisation and the happenings in the state. Mersal is already declared hit as it scatters all previous records and went on to become the no.1 grosser in several circuits, including Tamil Nadu. The BJP protest adds up to the film’s free promotion that evokes curiosity among people to watch the film before the production trim off the scenes.
