Actor Arvind Swami takes a dig at Gautham Menon on Naragasooran row

The tug of war between acclaimed director Gautham Vasudev Menon and young filmmaker Karthick Naren on Naragasooran issue has taken a new dimension after Arvind Swami, the lead star of the film, has lent his support in favor of Karthick Naren.

Karthick Naren, the young aspiring filmmaker, has made everyone’s head turn with his stellar debut film Dhuruvangal Pathinaru. Following the success of the film, he joined hands with director and producer Gautham Menon to produce his next film, Naragasooran.

However, things haven’t went smooth between the two, as the former claimed that Gautham didn’t fund the project as promised and he was put in a situation to fund the movie on his own. Things went worse when Gautham used the title of Naragasooran to get funds for his own films Enai Noki Payum Thota and Dhruva Natchithiram which were on the shelves for long time.

The filmmaker tweeted, “Sometimes a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit. Threshold!“.

As a counter to his tweet, Gautham indirectly hit Karthick tweeting, “While some young filmmakers whine about their passion getting butchered instead of growing a pair, here’s a young team that makes an interesting short about girls, women, cricket, CSK and liberation. What a connect. So very nicely done!,”.

Karthick Naren hit back directly saying, “While everybody advised against it I had the pair to trust you & collaborate sir. In return we were treated like trash & made to invest on our own. I think its better to whine & confront instead of running away. Please don’t do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts!”.

Arvind Swami, who plays the lead in the film offered his support to Karthick Naren taking a dig at Gautham. “Yes we all can grow a few things, a pair of eyes that sees what we do to others, a pair of ears to hear the truth, a conscience to tell us when we are wrong and a pair of whatever to accept our mistakes and apologise…instead we grow our list of commitments that we can’t keep,” he tweeted.

It is also said that Gautham has to clear back the dues for the actors of the film. The film was originally planned to release in May 2018. But the ongoing tensions between the two may push the film’s release to a later date whereas the spectators are eagerly anticipating for the film as it is a second installment in D16 trilogy. It is because the previous installment has created a lot of expectations about the film. The film also stars Shriya Saran, Indrajith, and Sundeep Kishan.
